Animated hosts Richard and Alex at The Global Roast news desk, shocked, with a bucket of popcorn

Satirical world news · Animated

Real news. No mercy.

Politics, economics, technology and geopolitics from around the world, explained by two animated hosts who refuse to take any of it at face value.

ON AIR

Meet the desk

Two anchors, one planet, and an endless supply of headlines that make no sense.

Richard at the anchor desk, fingers on his temple, unimpressed

Richard

Anchor

Keeps a straight face for as long as the news allows, which is usually about four seconds.

Alex at the anchor desk, winking and pointing a pen at the camera

Alex

Anchor

Asks the question everyone at the press conference was too polite to ask.

How an episode runs

Every episode takes five stories from around the world and puts them through the same treatment.

  1. The headline

Richard and Alex open the story with the facts: what happened, where, and who said what.

  2. The roast

Animated satire plays the story out the way it really looks once the press release is gone.

  3. The verdict

The hosts close each story with the comment nobody on the evening news is allowed to make.

Our rule is simple

Satire only works when the facts underneath it hold up.

  • The newsIs real. Every story starts from real, reported events.
  • The factsMatter. We keep reporting and satire clearly separate.
  • The jokesAre ours. Hosts, guests and reenactments are animated, AI-assisted creative work, not real footage.

Same planet. Different idiots.
